The Outrigger

The weekend is fast approaching and It’s been a long time since I had a cocktail on the blog. So without further ado…

The Outrigger is a sour style cocktail, based on rum. So if you like a margarita or a daiquiri this will be right up you alley!

  • 2 parts old rum
  • 1 part Cointreau
  • 1/2 part lemon juice

Shake with lots of ice, serve in a cocktail glass

Enjoy your weekend!

White Russian

Well, I was watching The Big Lebowski and just had to have a white russian.. Im read somewhere “The Dude” drinks nine of them throughout the movie 🙂 My version uses full milk instead of Cream, to make the drink more refreshing.

White Russian

  • 1 1/2 parts       Vodka
  • 1 part               Coffe liqueur
  • 2 pars               Full milk

Build in a Old Fashioned glass with Ice

Clementine 75

Clementine 75 Cocktail

Last recipe from our new years party, and its a cocktail! As it was new year, it had to include champagne. The end result was a twist on the classic French 75 cocktail.

  • 4 parts      Gin
  • 1 part        fresh clementine juice
  • 1 part        fresh lime juice
  • 2 part        simple sirup
  • dash of bitters
  • Dry Champagne

Shake with lots of ice (not including the champagne), top with champagne.

Japanese cherry blossom cocktail

Japanese cherry blossom cocktail

While its not cherry blossom season in japan yet, i find this little creation of mine has the flare of christmas. It’s 2 main ingredients are sake (Japanese rice wine) and cherry heering (Danish cherry liquor).

  • 4 parts      sake
  • 1 part        cherry heering
  • 1 part        fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 part    simple sirup
  • dash of bitters

Shake with lots of ice, and strain into a cocktail glass.

Whiskey sour

Old school cocktail: Whiskey sour

Recently i discovered this old school classic cocktail. Some may be intimidated by the contents of egg white, but fear not, it delicious 🙂

  • 3 parts      –  Bourbon whiskey
  • 2 parts      –  Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 part        –  Simple sirup
  • 1 tsp.         –  Egg white (or pasteurized egg white)

shake with ice, and serve.

Enjoy !

Mai Tai

Tiki party! (Mai Tai)

Another one of my favorite cocktails is the Mai Tai. Careful though, it packs a punch!

A quick search on google will return all sorts of recipe contraptions for this drink. In my opinion grenadine syrup or sweet and sour mix don’t add anything positive. Please take the time and squeeze your own lime juice, there simply is no substitute!

  • 2 parts      –   Dark Rum
  • 2 parts      –   Gold Rum
  • 1 part        –   Orgeat sirup
  • 1 part        –   Cointreau
  • 1 part        –   Fresh lime juice

shake with ice, and serve in a tiki mug if you have one (I don’t so i use my grandmothers old juice glasses 🙂 )

Espresso Martini

Kickstart… with a cocktail… (Espresso Martini)

While enjoying a couple of drinks with my good friend Morten, he convinced me to create a blog for all my food & drink ideas.

To keep up with the theme of the night I find it all too appropriate to start of the blog with one of my favorite drinks:

This cocktail newer fails to give the party a kick! The combination of vodka & coffee just makes people happy and in the mood for dancing 🙂   If made properly, the coffee & the sweeteners should balance perfectly.

  • 2 parts      –  Vodka
  • 2 parts      –  Espresso (strong instant coffee works just fine if you don’t own a espresso machine)
  • 1 part        –  Kahlua ( or other coffee liqueur)
  • 1/4 part    –   Amaretto liquor (other liqueurs like cointreau also work nicely)

shake with ice, and serve in a cocktail glass.
